Description
This Antique Chinese Export Silver Lot is in very good condition overall and only shows minimal signs of age and wear though one piece included has been damaged. Included in this lot are one cigarette case, one ring and one bracelet. Hallmarks can be noted on several of these pieces and all I could find I have photographed. The cigarette case is in very good condition and is well marked all over though I could not locate a maker's hallmark. The front shows a very detailed dragon with what appears to be jeweled eyes (one is missing) and the words "WAR" and "CHINA" engraved. The backside of the case is hand inscribed with the years and many locations the previous owner traveled to and is a truly amazing log of the case's adventures. The date ranges of service in Asia are 1945-46 and the list begins with "TIENTSIN," a very active area for the US Navy and US Marine Corps immediately following the end of World War 2. No serious damage can be found though it appears the inner retention bands have been lost. The bracelet that is included here is also well marked though has been damaged. One of the chain attachment eyelets has broken off and an old repair has also failed. The charm on the bracelet is nicely marked with the serviceman's name on the front and "TIENTSIN CHINA" on it's reverse. Also noted are the inscription "Mei-Mei" and several hallmark stamps. The bracelet's catch is also well marked on it's reverse. The ring depicts a dragon and is also stamped on it's inner band with a hallmark. There is noticeable wear around the edges of the ring and on the dragon as well and this seems to indicate that the ring may not be made of silver, though I cannot confirm this. The cigarette case roughly measures 4" X 3" and weighs 103.2 grams. The bracelet roughly measures a little less than 8" end to end and weighs 33.6 grams. The ring roughly measures about 1" wide and also in diameter and weighs 10.1 grams. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of condition.
