Description

Japanese silver jewelry box, ca 1910. Rectilinear with straight sides and loose trefoil handle with petal mounts on top. Sides and top have engraved butterflies, bamboo, chrysanthemums, and blossoming prunus branch. Front has 2 hinged doors with ornamental strap hinges and scrolled and hinged finial. Interior has 3 black lacquered graduated drawers with same handles and mounts, and purple velvet lining. Also lacquered black are door interiors and box underside. For special keepsakes. Japanese marks.
