Description
This round silver box was made in the 1930s by a silversmith in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.Decorated with the classic Djokja Lotus flower design.
The box closes perfectly and stands solid.
Provenance: Bought at an antique shop in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
Silver grade: 800/1000
Weight: 164 grams or approx. 5.27 Troy ounces.
Height: 3.5 centimeter or approx. 1.38 inches.
Diameter: 9 centimeter or approx. 3.54 inches.
Condition: The box is in a very good condition with regular traces of careful use.
The name Djokja / Yogya silver originates from the town name of Djokjakarta, Java, Indonesia.
Between 1930 and 1970, a lot of silver was made in Kota Gede, a town next to Djokjakarta.
All Djokja silver are hand made and therefore every piece is unique.
