    Description

Presented is an excellent quality antique Chinese export silver spoon. This spoon dates to the late 1700s or early 1800s. The spoon is between the size we'd call an oval soup or place spoon and the size of a teaspoon, by today's standards. The handle is finely hand engraved with bright cut decoration in the form of a hanging garland and an oval cartouche. This cartouche has a monogram of ED in flowing script.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a little rounding and a tiny ding to the tip. Some wear to the monogram, but it is still legible, and this is not a removal. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The stem is stamped with a Chinese character maker's mark. We have tested this piece with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least 900 purity silver.
This spoon measures about 6 3/4 inches long.
The spoon weighs 40 grams, or 1.4 regular ounces.
