Description
The Collection of European Bronzes from Henri CaroffHenri Caroff of Loc’h Normidou, France and North New Jersey amassed one of the premier collections of fine European bronzes over the past half century.
A portion of the collection is slowly being sold and this is a rare opportunity to acquire some of these exquisite pieces.
This particular piece of art was done by French sculpture Ferdinand Barbedienne. Barbedienne lived from 1810 – 1892 and was considered one of the premier metal foundry artists in France. The sculpture for auction is a Roman woman leaning against a pillar with stylists in both hands. The sculpture has exquisite detail and patina and is signed by the artist and the seal of the foundry. It measures 27” in height and 10 3/4” in width and 6 1/4” in depth. A truly magnificent piece of French bronze.
