    Description

    Antique cast bronze statue of Silenius, c. late 19th c., after the original antique unearthed in Pompeii and now at the Archeology Museum in Naples, Italy.
    The statue shows Silenius, follower of the wine God Bacchus, half naked, his waist wrapped in a cloth.
    Silenius is stumbling, half drunk, and holding a serpent in one hand, raised above his head,
    Condition: The statue has a black and verdigri patination and a pitted surface, with some pitting due to wear and age, and some of it probably intended by the maker, who would have simulated the surface of the antique original.
    The color may look black or dark green depending on the light.
    There are a few scratches on the black patina, showing the bronze color ( one on the back ), also the top of the snake has 2 screw holes, please see pictures.
