Description
Fresh from an ARKANSAS estate is this pair of JENNINGS BROTHERS bronzed bookends, marked JB 1922. Jennings Brothers was a fine BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, foundry and produced some of the finest metal wares from 1890---1940. This rare set features a pair of German Shepherd dogs, one sitting taller than the second reclining dog. Both dogs have curling tails. As with all of the Jennings Brothers products these are beautifully crafted---and the patina on this pair is EXCEPTIONAL. Each bookend stands 5 1/5" tall, 6 1/4" long, 3 3/4" wide and weighs approximately 3 lbs. They are in near Fine original antique condition with a darkened patina---and one shepherd dog looks like he has been in a fight and lost the tips of both top ears! The red felt bottoms are new replacements. For a nearly 100-year old set of bookends, this pair is Gorgeous---with just the kind of wear a set this old would have. Authenticity is assured as both bookends are marked JB 1922 on the back. I will bubble wrap and box carefully for better security in mail mailing.
